WANDER STUDIO | A Living Room Within a Beauty Salon
A living-room arrangement sets the tone for the reception at Z-IN BEAUTY in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. A sofa and armchairs gather around low tables, with the counter close by. Sitting down brings people face to face, at a distance suited to conversation. The salon’s daily rhythm unfolds from this intimate place to pause.

The travertine texture of the walls meets the pale upholstery within a closely related palette. Horizontal veins form a quiet backdrop, while fine grains remain close to the body. The grey-green pattern of the low tables stands out within it, gently opening up the expanse of warm tones. These shifts in texture do not reveal themselves at once; only from a seat nearby do the details show their individual expressions.

The glass beside the seating gives this gathering a second layer of backdrop. The round table and artwork inside show through, while the seating and lights outside settle onto the glass. Furnishings and reflections overlap, carrying the gaze between two sets of tables and chairs. A curved corner softens the enclosure, and the passage continues alongside it.

Following the edge of the glass inward, the scene of gathering gradually recedes behind. Wall lights beside the doors are spaced along the passage, their warm light tracing the walls into a gentle line. Inside the treatment rooms, the light changes its tone: the windows bring brighter, slightly cooler daylight, while the softly warm palette remains. Across the door frames, warm light meets daylight, and the welcoming atmosphere at the front slowly settles into calm.
